I have had serveral chances to interact with the staff at Noltes. The first time I called about bridesmaids dresses and spoke with onwer Michael who was rude and uppity. He scoffed when I told him I wanted to spend about $150 on each bridesmaids dress. He then told me they didn't have a single thing in the store even close to that price. This of course was not true. Despite this experience they were the only store in Kansas City that carries a particular designer, so I went in with one of my bridesmaids to try on dresses. This experience was the opposite of the first one. The ladies were extremely helpful and pulled dresses in similar styles to what we were originally looking at. They ended up pulling a dress that we are going to purchase. In the end I am glad that we went the second time. The female staff is much friendlier.

Nolte's bridal was a complete surprise from the start. The shop is beautiful and the women there are so nice and so friendly from the get-go. Donna, the store manager, was a treat from the moment she said hello, to when she was with me in my dressing room. She explained the differences in all the gowns that they had and the best part was that I got to choose which ones I would like to try on along with a few of her pics she thought I would like. In the dressing room, she was there start to finish, helping when I needed and space when I didn't. She offered all kinds of accessories from satchels to bracelets to shoes, and of course most important the veil. I was treated like I was special from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. I had been to three other shops before I made it to Nolte's and I believe I had saved the best for last and I would most certainly recommend Nolte's for any bride to be!

Throughout the search for my bridal gown, bridesmaids dresses and accessories, Nolte's has been wonderful! I found the staff to be both helpful and polite but never pushy—I never felt pressured to purchase anything. When I first visited, Donna, the store manager, helped me look for a wedding dress. As I tried on dresses, she paid careful attention to the comments I made about each dress and adjusted the selection in the room based on what I was saying that I liked or didn't like. I'm a very picky person—I wasn't expecting to find my wedding dress on my first outing, and certainly not at the first store—but by the fourth or fifth dress, I'd found the one! They just happened to have the dress I liked in my size in the store, so they offered me a nice discount on it. I had a similar pleasant experience when I went back to look for accessories. The staff was helpful but never pushed me into purchasing something. The time I called to ask about bridesmaids dresses, Mr. Nolte answered the phone. Being the owner of the store, I figured he would be busy and wouldn't be interested in answering my questions, but he took about ten minutes to answer the many questions I had about ordering bridesmaids dresses. He was patient, courteous and very helpful through the whole conversation. I've found the customer service to be wonderful at Nolte's, and I would definitely recommend it to other brides looking for a special experience.

I went to Noltes to find my graduation dress and there are many guidelines that have to be followed (including color, straps, etc.). The consultants were great and made sure I ended up with a dress I loved, that also followed the guidelines. It's helpful that they provide someone for alterations and do them in the store. They will customize the dress exactly to what you want and help you make decisions when you can't decided what you like best. Although the sizing they ordered me originally was incorrect, I have really enjoyed my experience there and will maybe go back for my wedding dress one day!

Nolte's assisted me in finding the perfect dress for my daughter's wedding. Donna, the manager, was patient and accommodating as I tried on many dresses. She gave me all the time I needed to make a decision and I felt like I was her only priority. When I asked if she could order some lace for the back of the dress I bought (so it wouldn't be so revealing) she followed through and made sure I was satisfied with the dress I purchased. I was extremely impressed with the service I received.

I worked with Mike Nolte and his staff to purchase my dress and all my bridesmaid dresses for our October wedding. We had a planned 4 month engagement which many other bridal shops around Kansas City told me would be impossible to find/order/alter dresses in time. Mike & his store manager Donna proved that was in no way the case. I was thrilled with the choices they had for my dress and found something that didn't feel like anything I'd seen a hundred times in a bridal magazine. Additionally, since they take such good care of their samples, I was able to purchase my dress as a sample and avoid the ordering process all together - at Donna's suggestion. The bridesmaid's dresses were high quality and looked great on all shapes & sizes - these were the dresses Mike suggested and all the girls looked fabulous! The final touch was Mike helping me with my accessories (he had two necklaces melded together to make a very impactful piece) and my veil. The veil he found for me was stunning and a perfect fit for the dress. I couldn't believe how many compliments I received on how it looked. Mike and his staff took care of everything and I never lost a nights sleep over the short turn around time we needed for our wedding. It was a treat to be pampered at Nolte's as we made all our selections.

I ordered my dress from Nolte's and it took almost a year to come in! They did not warn me of this and I ended up not getting my dress till 3 weeks before the wedding. When the dress came in, we went to try on and to get shoes. They told us the shoes would take 3-4 weeks to come in, and we were upset because since the dress came in so late, we didn't have time to get shoes. We asked them if they could overnight the shoes, since the dress took twice as long as it should have, and the owner was so rude! Absolutely not, he said. He "doesn't give out free stuff". We were shocked. We then asked where my veil was (which I also ordered with the dress Oct 2010) and it wasn't in either!! The owner had started comparing my wedding dress to his patio door from Lowes that came in late, and how it was all the same thing. It was absolutely bizarre. He did not apologize or anything for our inconvenience in our stuff coming in late. Finally he did agree to overnight the shoes, but he huffed and puffed and complained about it. It was a very weird experience and we will never deal with him again.

The women at Nolte's made me feel completely comfortable and did not pressure me into choosing a dress. They really know how to make a bride feel beautiful based on their body type, wants and needs. I loved my strapless dress and veil and wish I could wear it more than just at my wedding. Nolte's recommended seamstress was absolutely worth it as well. She know how to tailor a dress to fit you like a glove.

I purchased my bridal gown, bridesmaid dresses, and flower girl dress from Nolte's. The dresses were exactly what I was looking for -- and I probably stopped by every bridal salon in town doing thorough research before making my final decision. The staff members were all friendly, understanding, and accommodating.

Nolte's was the absolute worst part of my wedding. I bought my dress from them, because they have beautiful dresses and I had heard that they had great customer service. My dress arrived 4 weeks late, and it was several sizes too small. What you need to know about Nolte's before you buy a dress there, is that THEY DO NOT HAVE ALTERATIONS! They have one woman who comes a couple of times weekly to do alterations, but she doesn't work for Nolte's. So if your dress doesn't fit, Nolte's will NOT care. I was shocked at what happened after my dress arrived. The woman who comes to Nolte's to do alterations kept insisting that my dress fit correctly, and that "not being able to breathe" was a part of the "suffering" that I must endure while wearing a wedding dress. Since I still felt as though the dress was not fitting correctly, the tailor asked Mrs. Nolte to give her advice. She took one look at the dress and admitted that it was way to small. She had several ideas as to how to fix it. The tailor kept insisting that she wouldn't be able to do it, but Mrs. Nolte brushed that off and told us that she believed in the tailor, and that it would be fixed. I went in the next week to try it on again before the tailor started working on it. I had made an appointment, but when I showed up, the store was closed due to construction. I called and asked if there was anything I could do, because I was leaving town in the next two days. Mr. Nolte then came to the door and very brashly insisted that he wasn't going to be able to give my any customer service, and then I needed to just try it on by myself - which was fine. I called the tailor the next day to see if she truly felt like she could fix the dress, and she said that she realized she wasn't going to have time to fix it. Mind you, this was 3 weeks before my wedding. Nobody had bothered to tell me that she wasn't going to be altering it. I frantically called the store, and they recommended I take it to an alterations place on the plaza. I was leaving town soon, and the lady at the plaza agreed to see me that same day. When I went to get my dress from Nolte's to take it to the plaza tailor, they refused to let me take the dress without paying for the remaining balance. I didn't think anything of it at the time, and took the dress to the plaza tailor. That plaza tailor is another story in itself, but bottom line, SHE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO DO WEDDING DRESS ALTERATIONS. She insisted she couldn't do a bustle, because she doesn't know how, and if she were to try, it would look "sloppy." That was a big red flag, but my wedding was in 3 weeks, so I trusted Nolte's recommendation. I called Nolte's to double check that this plaza tailor in fact did work with wedding dresses, and they insisted that they use her often. I later learned from the tailor that according to her, she hadn't worked with Nolte's much, and their relationship was a new one. The tailor messed my dress so badly, that it was a complete disaster. I went to the shop several days a week for 2 weeks, and my dress had an extra panel sewed on top of the back in order to make it fit. It looked ridiculous. She also had 2 dogs in her store, which might or might not explain why the bottom of my dress was turning black slowly. When I asked the tailor about it, she insisted that the dress was that way when I took it to her. Furthermore, I had called Nolte's to figure out where to do my bustle, since this plaza tailor said she wouldn't do it. They told me that they'd talk to her and call me back. According to the tailor, Nolte's had in turn called her and yelled at her for trying to "ruin his business." Naturally, it looks bad if a wedding dress tailor says that she can't do bustles. So the tailor decided to scream at me in her store and demanded that I call Nolte's to fix it. She insisted that she didn't say she couldn't do a bustle (which she most definitely had said), and that she said she could do it, it would just look sloppy. My florist recommended a place to get my bustle done, so I scheduled that and decided I would take my dress no matter what it looked like, because every time I would go to the tailor, it somehow looked worse. After two weeks of this nightmare, I called Nolte's and said that my wedding was next week, and I NEEDED solution. The person on the phone, Brandy, said she'd tell Mr. Nolte and have him call me back. I also asked if they could please help clean my dress, because it was black on the bottom. They said that it wasn’t their responsibility to clean dresses, and they can’t promise me that, but they’ll try to spot clean it. In the meantime, I paid the tailor at the plaza her money, because I couldn’t deal with her and wasn’t willing to fight about it a week before my wedding. I took my dress to the place that my florist had recommended, and as soon as the new alterations lady saw my dress, she was shocked! The entire store came over and could not believe their eyes. The alterations lady told me she stayed up until 3 in the morning fixing my dress, because there was no way she was going to let me walk down the aisle in a dress looking like that. She asked if I myself had tried to sew it, and she couldn’t believe it when I told her that a tailor on the plaza that Nolte’s had recommended had done that to my dress. After the new alterations place fixed my entire dress, I realized that it was 4 days later, and no one from Nolte’s had called me back, even though I told them that it was a imperative that I figure out a solution, because my wedding was a mere week away. They didn’t know that I had taken my dress elsewhere and those ladies were angels and decided to fix my entire dress and not just my bustle. So they let 4 days pass by the week before my wedding, and didn’t have the professionalism to try to help me find a solution. I decided to call them back, and Brandy told me that she hadn’t told Mr. Nolte to call me yet, and she’s sorry she was busy with other things. At this point, I was no longer surprised at the incredible disregard for customer service. No one from Nolte’s ever reached out to me to see what happened with my dress, or to see if I had even fixed it. Not to mention, that throughout this whole ordeal, they took no responsibility for the size being wrong, and insisted that I had picked my own size. What happened was that they measured me and said I fall under a size 4. I told the lady who measured me that I wasn’t usually a size 4, and I probably needed a bigger size, but she insisted that that’s where I fell on the size chart. Nolte’s claims that all of their customers choose their own sizes, and that they’re not responsible. Then my question is, as a wedding dress shop, if you’re not able to help customers pick sizes, or to provide alterations, then what exactly do you do??? Anyone can order a dress from a store, that doesn’t take talent. Finally, I made sure to tell all of my vendors about my ordeal, and every single last one said that they weren’t surprised. They all said that they had heard horror stories like this about Nolte’s and that they always wondered why the place still had such a good reputation. Future brides: this is the FIRST review I have ever done. I don’t even normally take reviews into account too much, because I know that there are 2 sides to every story. However, I sincerely hope you stay far away from Nolte’s. They almost ruined my wedding, and caused much angst and tears in the weeks before it. I spent so much money on the dress, the multiple alterations, and in the end, the dress was acceptable because of the help of other people, not because of Nolte’s. Notle’s made NO attempt to help, and seemed very uninterested once I had paid for the dress. This is the absolute WORST experience I have ever had with a vendor. Best wishes for your wedding, stay far away from Nolte’s!

This is the very first time I have taken time out of my day to write a review. I am doing so only so there is not another bride that has to go through what I went through. I made an appt in Feb to try on dresses for myself and my bridesmaids for my May destination wedding, we went to Hawthorne Plaza. I did not purchase my dress at Nolte's however my bridesmaids did. BIG MISTAKE. I had already picked out the dress so it was pretty simple I thought...we ordered them on Feb 21st, they insisted that we put a rush on them or they would not be ready until the week of April 21. Which was a week and a half before the wedding and they claimed that would just be TOO stressful to wait that long. With the rush the dresses were due back March 27th. On April 2nd I called to inquire, no one would answer my question OR call me back....reason being...my dresses were never ordered! Our accounts were charged but no dresses. Mr Nolte calls me and gives a lame excuse that this particular dress and color combo had not been done before etc...after reading other reviews clearly I am not alone here. He promised that the dresses would arrive before the wedding. Each week we would call to check on them...same story dress will be here, clearly annoyed to have to deal with me but yes still lying. He maintained the entire time they would be here, but yet he would not give us the tracking #. Dresses never came and 2 days before leaving for my Marco Island I am shopping for dresses off the rack for my bridesmaids because that PIG in a Suit lied....finding dresses is not really what a bride wants to be dealing with when she is packing for her wedding and honeymoon. When I asked for my rush fee to refunded Mr Nolte said, these dresses are costing me $500 to get here now! Retracted and said, but that is not your problem. Bottom line....my problem was I was getting married and had no bridesmaids dresses....reason why....I bought from Nolte's. Being a a business owner myself I have no idea how that place stays in business...so for all of you brides and bridesmaids out there, if you want to avoid additional stress when planning a wedding stear clear of Nolte's.

Oh they were great- second dress I tried on was the one- so easy. It was more expensive than my budget so I bought the sample dress for a discount and they threw in the veil. They did a great job, so many gorgeous dresses. The only negative was my dress didn't look pressed when we picked it up but everything else was great!

I purchased my bridal gown from Nolte's in Hawthworne Plaza. Ashley was very helpful in helping me find a gorgeous dress. I felt no pressure from her, just great service. She was helpful too when I went back to choose a veil and other accessories. I ordered a sash to accompany my dress and the other lady who ordered it accidentally got the wrong one. Ashley sent it back and ordered the correct one before I ever knew anything was wrong :) My dress only needed minor alterations, but I felt that Candy did a great job on those as well. The only snafu was that they accidentally ordered the completely wrong dress for our flower girl. They rectified the situation immediately and rush-ordered a new one and even took care of the alterations for her. Accidents happen and they handled it appropriately. I have also heard about inconsistencies with their customer service, but must say that I received exceptional service throughout. My bridal ensemble turned out beautifully and for that, I thank the team at Nolte's.

I would not recommend this vendor to any bride I know. I went to this shop to try on gowns and the pressure they put on you to purchase a gown is unbelievable. The owner came into the dressing room (while I was in my underwear, no less) and proceeded to tell me exactly what kind of wedding gown I should be buying. I know my taste and comfort level and did not appreciate someone telling me I should buy something I was not comfortable in. He was very pushy. I have spoken with other bridal vendors around Kansas City and they have dealt a lot with other brides who experienced similar customer service. There are many other bridal boutiques I would send close friends of mine to before I would ever send them to Nolte's.

I had a good experience at Nolte's. I worked with Ashley, who helped me find a beautiful dress that I never would have picked up on my own. Candy, the seamstress recommended by the store, helped with my alterations and did a good job in a short time frame (I was coming in from out of town). While the store looks beautiful and I was happy with my dress, the customer service sometimes left a little to be desired. Although no one did anything outright, I felt that phone communications were sometimes a bit strained and the clerks at the store when I came back for fittings weren't always very friendly. Even though my dress was great, I would not be a in a hurry to go back to Nolte's.

I got my dress on sale at the Nolte's in Hawthorne Plaza. The sales girl that helped me was very friendly the day I got my dress. After that though when I would go in for fittings I never got greeted or spoken to by her again. It seems she was only interested in being friendly to the paying customer of the day. Mr. Nolte is a very nice man and he does what he can to make his brides feel at ease and beautiful. If you need anything done to your dress besides a simple hem or taking in of the sides, I STRONGLY advise you to look elsewhere for someone who specifically does more difficult alterations on wedding dresses. They have a seamstress, named Candy, that they recommend who does not actually work for them but just uses their store to do alterations. I needed some changes made to the dress that I thought might be difficult but Candy assured me she could do it and would make it look great. Well, apparently not. She had me trying on my dress up until a week before my wedding trying to get it right. Every time she fixed one thing something else would be wrong with the dress. I finally just took the dress and made the last few minor changes myself. She just couldn't seem to get it right and had an attitude with me because I was disappointed in her work. I think for the most part this store is fine, just be careful and try not to get too caught up in the charm of the place. Good Luck.

I recently purchased my wedding dress from Nolte's Bridal in Briarcliff. I had a wonderful experience and the staff was so so helpful. It was nice to have my own, beautiful room. Other places I had went I had to share a mirror with other customers. I did not feel rushed or pressured, and my consultant picked out the most beautiful dress for me, one I would not have picked off the rack. She was very helpful and I was very impressed. I would definitely recommend Nolte's! Mallory Smith

The experience at Noltes is completely different experience than any other bridal shop we went to. You have your own room that is separate from where people look at the dresses. You don't feel like you are on display, which I appreciated very much. The consultant I had was very knowledgable and picked out fabulous dresses for me. The quality of the dresses is leaps and bounds better than most of the stores we visited. Marlo Holt
