Helens Cakes & Cookies

Helen made the cake for my 1/1/11 wedding and it was to-die-for fabulous! When we met for a consultation she had many examples of her work--both fake cakes to showcase her decorating skills, and many albums of past cakes. She was able to find pictures of previous cakes she had made to show that she could give us exactly what we wanted. We got a 4 tier cake with buttercream frosting. The piping work was incredible, and the cake... oh, the cake! My husband and I did the traditional cake cutting and feeding, but we could not let it go at a single bite! We had to finish the entire slice of cake then and there--it was too incredible to put down. Helen delivered the cake to our reception hall with no problems. She explained to our reception coordinator in detail exactly how to separate the layers of cake for serving, so that when it came time to serve the cake it went without a hitch. We had a lot of cake left over, and even frozen and thawed a week later it is still incredibly moist and delicious. I can't recommend her spice cake (with cream cheese filling!) enough--it's the best I've ever had, hands down. Helen is friendly to work with, her pricing (I think) is very reasonable, especially for the quality of product you receive. I highly recommend her work to anyone looking for a cake that is not only beautiful, but delicious as well.

What a talented cake artist! Not only do Helen's creations taste amazing (with many flavor options to choose from,) but she's extremely gifted in the cake creations, design, and presentation. After one meeting with her, I knew I could trust her to create a beautiful, delicious wedding cake. She's worked for years in the Lawrence area, and she knows many local vendors and can recommend many and work with them on your day. Our entire cake was devoured by guests, and we can't wait for Helen to make us a mini-cake copy for our one year anniversary (this time we won't be too excited and can eat more than a few bites.) I strongly recommend meeting with Helen; I guarantee you'll be impressed!

We had a very specific idea for our wedding cake, based on the henna designs that are a traditional part of an Indian wedding. Helen met with us in person on two occasions and worked with me extensively through e-mail to get a good understanding of what we wanted our cake to look like. Helen took the pictures I sent her, along with our ideas, and incorporated them into a fabulous design. Our guests repeatedly commented on how lovely the cake looked and how delicious it tasted. Many people went back for second and third helpings! We were very impressed with Helen's skill and passion for cake design.

I had a specific idea in mind for the design of my cake and Helen created a cake that more than lived up to what I wanted. One of the cake samples that she provided at the tasting was orange-flavored. It was so light, moist, and delicious that we had to have it for our cake! Everyone at my reception commented on how beautiful and delicious the cake was.

Helen is the best. The cake was delicious. Our wedding cake was also more than we could have asked for. It was very beautiful. She is very easy to work with and is a great lady. I highly recommend her for any cake needs.

Helen was wonderful to work with. At our meetings, she was very professional and listened carefully to our ideas for the cake and then drew a sketch for us that incorporated all of our ideas. Also, of all the cakes we tried, hers was by far the best tasting. We decided to go with Helen based on the taste of the cake, her thick portfolio of great looking cakes, and her no-nonsense attitude. One experience that really impressed me was that when we ended up having to add on more servings she suggested a less expensive option (a sheet cake for the kitchen) rather than adding on an extra tier. At the reception, everyone commented on how beautiful the cake looked and how great it tasted. I really can't say enough good things about Helen.

The price for our 3 tier wedding cake plus 5 additional 8" cakes was unbelievable! The cake was wonderful. They looked just as good as they tasted! A+++ for presentation and taste.
