Dotte Cakes

We decided to go with Lori who is a part of a 3-person baking team who work out of their homes in KCK. While they make all kinds of cakes, we were looking for someone who could make a variety of cupcakes. As soon as I sent an inquiry via email, I got a call back within 24 hours to talk about my vision. Lori was always on top of things. She asked detailed questions about exactly what my wedding colors/flowers were so she could match the cupcake stand and had me send her images I found online for cupcake wrappers in damask, etc. I loved the variety of cake flavors they offered ranging from Amaretto to Pumpkin Spice! She was completely flexible in our budget and cut me a sweet deal that made 120 cupcakes so much less than a big wedding cake. Our guests loved the cupcakes and at the end of the night, family and friends were arguing over who got to take what flavors home.

My husband & I's wedding was just on 2-26-11 and the cake came out beautifully. It was almost a replica of an originally black and white one but changed all the black to our powder blue. It had beautifully crafted flowersand bead work. It was delicious and wonderful to look at:)

Melissa is a great friend of mine and I was thrilled to have her do my wedding cake. She and I collaborated on creating the perfect cake and together we agreed on a 4 tier cake, incorporating my wedding colors into the tiers and additional embelishments. We decided on the types of cake for each tier - I went with red velvet on the bottom tier, white on the two middle tiers and chocolate on the top tier. The presentation of the cake was everything I had ever imagined...and more! And the different cake flavors tasted AMAZING! I still have friends and family raving about how good it was. I really can't wait until my husband's and my first anniversary so we can finally eat the top tier :) I would recommend Dotte Cakes to anyone! I know you won't be disappointed!!

My husband & I are thrilled we chose Dotte Cakes to do our wedding cake. We planned our wedding long distance (we live in VA), and Melissa made this part of the planning so stress free & easy! She allowed us to meet in her home for our tasting as well as allowed me to bring my mom, sister, & niece along for the tasting. She had all of our requested flavors for us to try as well as made chocolate since she knew it was my husband's favorite. Since they make all of your flavors as cupcakes for the tasting, we got to take all the extras home :) For our wedding cake, we chose a fairly simple three-tier, square cake. The top & bottom tiers were quilted and the middle tier had a beaded piped edge. The middle tier also had our initials placed on the side of the cake. Melissa went above and beyond to ensure that we had our initials (in BLING none the less!!) and that they were not going to pull away from the side of the cake. Dotte Cakes also allows you to make each tier of your cake a different flavor. We had red velvet cake with cream cheese buttercream, raspberry chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream, & white chocolate cake with strawberry buttercream. All of the flavors were DIVINE!!!! When Melissa encountered an unforeseen problem the night before with our wedding cake, she was so professional in letting me know & not stressing me out about it. The correction to the problem already gave us more wedding cake, but Melissa again went above & beyond and offered to bring in two full extra sheet cakes for the very slight inconvenience. I asked her if she could just make a Tarheel shaped groom's cake to honor my husband's NC heritage instead. She did a phenomenal job with his groom's cake!! Even with it being a last minute addition, she spared no detail on his cake!

Jenna was wonderful at taking my suggestions, listening to what I was look for, and helping out in areas that I wasn't sure about. She knew I was tight on budget and did a wonderful job at working around a tight budget to feed the most people and still produce and beautiful, unique and excellent cake. We had also arranged to pick up the cake from her and our day's schedule got way too busy. So, Jenna dropped everything she was doing in the middle of her weekend and brought the cake to us at no charge or complaints!

I actually contacted Dotte Cakes to get a surprise Groom’s Cake for my new husband. I wanted this cake to be something special and something that he and I would understand. He loves his iPhone and I knew that it would be the perfect cake. Melissa at Dotte Cakes came up with the idea of having our pictures represent the icons on the screen of the iPhone! So genius of her. I choose pictures that documented our time spent together and the cake was a hit! It was so real and life-like just bigger so we could eat it! The cake was moist and the attention to detail was incredible. Melissa made smaller figurines of the groom and I and put them next to the iPhone. The cake was delivered on time, the set up was great and it was so easy! She truly made it a breeze! I would definitely recommend going back to Dotte Cakes for any type of event.

These ladies are AMAZING! So personable! I had a difficult cake design I wanted AND it involved 4 seperate cakes. They pulled it off BEAUTIFULLY! I will, from now on, ONLY go to Dotte Cakes for any parties! The prices are extremely fair and the cake is delicious! These were actually for a 50th wedding anniversary party, but the work involved in the design of these cakes would make any cake decorator think twice. But not Melissa! I just bought my first cake from Dotte Cakes in June 2010, and I have never been happier!! The service is A+++, the cake was asolutely adorable, I have NEVER seen one cuter. All the guests were so happy with the design that they are using Dotte Cakes, too. Also, had to freeze a piece for my mother-in-law because she really wanted another piece and lives out of town. You will be pleased, and I will definitely use them again.

Dotte Cakes not only provided very friendly customer service, but did a fabulous job on the decorating on my son's pirate birthday cake. The detail on the cake was amazing! They also hand delivered the cake which I thought was extra special for a birthday party!! Thank you Jenna, you are amazing!!

Gave Dotte Cakes a week notice for my wife's birthday and they came through with no problems. Great selection and they were able to add a few add touches to the cake. Very pleased with the cake and the service provided by Dotte Cakes. Will use again.

We had two cakes from Dotte Cakes, Melissa was wonderful to work with made it so easy! I had two events a day apart for my daughters graduation at KU and they were so helpful with all the details. We had one cake that was a round very formal with chocolate drizzled on top and chocolate covered strawberries, we thought it was the best cake we ever had, that was until we had the next one! It was a chocolate rectangler with a Jayhawk for reception in the park. Pretty sure it was the best chocolate cake I've ever had! The cakes are very large no problem serving all our guest very moist and flavorful. If you plan to order from here, order more than you need we LOVE our leftovers! Thank you Dotte Cakes!

I ordered a birthday cake from Melissa after I tried her delicious cupcakes and now she has my forever business. She has great ideas, is very creative, is capable of making wonderful suggestions and she delivers and sets up for a very reasonable fee. The cake was delicious and completely unique and unlike anything any of our guests had ever seen before. Of course taste is also important and the cake is moist and yummy and the frosting is delicious! I highly recommend working with Dotte cakes!

The process was stress-free when choosing the cake all the way to the very end when we received our cake. Dotte Cakes is very professional and offers a variety of choices and styles to choose from, while also offering suggestions & direction when we were unsure of what style/flavor to choose. The cake was incredible in every sense of the word!

I love Dotte Cakes. Melissa is very professional and considerate of costomers wishes. She creates beautiful and original cakes. Melissa created my bridal shower cake. It was a huge hit. I can't wait for her to create a "bundle of joy" baby shower cake. Besides looks the cake is full of flavor.

Jenna made a 2 tiered round birthday cake for our son. It was a thomas the tank engine cake with a 3d thomas made and placed on the top of the cake. It looked amazing and tasted just as amazing. We will definitely go to Dotte cakes for all of our special occasion needs. You were wonderful to work with and had very reasonable prices.

I just had my event two days ago and I couldn't be happier with Dotte Cakes!! The cake was absolutely, exactly what I wanted!! It tasted delicious, and everyone wanted to know who I used! The cake was very fairly priced, and Melissa was just a delight to work with. She always responded very quickly to my emails, and my cake came in excellent condition on the day of the event. I would definitely use them again, and recommend them to anyone!
