John and Carla were GREAT to work with at Club 1000. Club 1000 is a beautiful location and we are VERY happy we had our special day take place there! We had our wedding ceremony in Studio 1000 (3rd floor) and our reception in Klub Kilo (1st floor).
John and Carla were very easy to work with and always available when I needed to stop by to check things out (again and again) during my planning process. Everything we discussed, was exactly right.
The day of our wedding and reception, I did not have to worry about a thing. It was perfect.
My husband and I would STRONGLY recommend having your wedding and reception at Club 1000. If we could get married again, we would have it at Club 100 again! :)

John and Carla were great! Our wedding and reception were both wonderful and beautiful. John really stepped up and took care of us when the Stowe building closed and left us with no wedding venue.

My husband and I have absolutely no regrets about having our wedding at Club 1000. We got engaged Labor Day weekend of 2010, and had secured a wedding venue fairly early on. However, in March 2011, that venue was forced to close down by the city of Kansas City, and we found ourselves without a venue. It was a total nightmare...at first. I called several venues just trying to find availability, and Club 1000 was the first to call me back. John was amazing. Everything I asked of him, he did. Any email or phone call was returned promptly. He was flexible with the layout and helped guide us in the right direction for the venue. Carla was equally helpful, ensuring that everything went off without a hitch. She was available without being OVERLY available, which I appreciated the day-of. John and Carla worked well with all of our vendors, and we had an amazing day. Thanks so much for the memorable experience!!

Me and my Husband we supposed to get married at the Arts Incubator. since it closed down we were foced to find another place in and month and a half. John from Club 1000 was the only person to call me back, i emails 9 vendors!! to this day not one of the other receptions venues called me back!!
John and Carla made me feel sooo comfortable that after we viewed Club 1000 for the first time i went home and cried out of relief. John got us a floor plan and walked through every single detail needed. he helped me figure out what i REALLY needed to do. it was unreal. he provided me word documents and excels to help me organize all my details. Carla called every single one of my vendors and scheduled their arrival. my photobooth wanted to change me $50 to arrive an hour earlier to set up and Carla got the to set up and ENTIRE DAY EARLY!! i recommend Club 1000 to EVERYONE!! please just talk to them!! couldnt be happier!!
OH YEAH and everyone kept telling me how AWESOME the bar tenders were!! they were soo nice to everyone!! so helpful!!!! I cant thank everyone enough!!!

Had a great time at the actual ceremony and reception. John was very accommodating on the price and was very helpful in that aspect. We did have to keep reminding him of things he forgot and he wasn't very attentive in our meetings. He also had trouble returning phone calls and seemed annoyed when we spoke on the phone.

Club 1000 was amazing. John and his staff were great for the reception and very professional. The venue was exactly what we wanted for a city feel to our wedding and it was on point. The venue needed minimum decorations as the ambiance of the building speaks for itself.

John (the owner) is very particular about how he runs his business, and the result is a beautiful venue with vendors who work hard to stay on his \"allowed vendor\" list. I have been told by several of my guests that it was one of the best ceremony/reception locations they have seen in a long time.

Obviously THE BEST. One look at this place and you will fall in love. I did and my reception was INCREDIBLE. I think it's the LIGHTING that makes the place what it is. John Berkowitz (the owner) is great to work with and truly works for you. I see the bad reviews below mine and maybe he did too... which made him shape up! He was really calm and so nice for my wedding. The package with this that puts it even more over the top is the ROOF-TOP photo. So GORGEOUS with the KC skyline in the back. You will win any bridal battle with this venue :)

This is a great space to have a wedding or party. However, I think it is overpriced for what you get. If you ever decide to have your reception at this place, get everything in writing!! The owner had promised us a certain space to have a cocktail hour before our reception, at no cost to us, which he ended up renting out to someone else. I received and e-mail from the owner telling me about it and to check back in a few months to see if he had any other options for us. When I checked back in a few months later, he said that we could have a different space in his building for the cocktails, but it was going to cost $500 and we had to guarantee 50 people would be there.
I did have a wonderful time at my reception and all of our guests thought the reception & space was beautiful.

Everything up until the reception was fine... The space was cool and we had a great night... However they offered paper lamps for the dance floor and then told my planner the day of that they cost 200 or 300.. To hang balls over the dance floor...
Don't expect to hear a damn thing from the owner after he has gotten your check and kiss your "deposit" goodbye... Wish I would have checked out these reviews before losing out on $500 without any communication as to why. Thanks John -

We rented both the 3rd (Studio 1000) and 6th (Penthouse 1000) floors for our ceremony and reception, respectively. The venue was awesome. It's beautiful inside--mostly white interior, white chairs, and huge white light-lined windows with a great view of the city. The location is great, too--downtown KC and walking distance from many hotels. It requires very little decorating, as it's already very elegant. The bride and groom even get to go to the roof for pictures on the day-of. However, I'm so glad we're done dealing with the owner, John. He is very intimidating and controlling. You are required to choose from their list of vendors and he's not at all flexible with allowing otherwise. You will also be charged for the rehearsal and time it takes to decorate--things which I feel should be included in the rental of the space. He had agreed to let us come in Friday before to decorate, but in the meantime booked another event for Friday. He failed to let us know as he had no record of telling us that; therefore, we had to scramble around at the last minute to make other arrangements. When we met with him the week before the wedding, he kept answering the phone and doing other things, rather than giving us his full and undivided attention. He also criticized the DJ we hired just 10 days before our wedding (even though the DJ was from his required list), which I felt was very unprofessional. In the end, it was nothing major or anything that ruined the day; in fact, the day-of was very flawless. It just seemed like a lot of unnecessary stress and aggravation leading up to the event.

I had a wonderful experience working with John and Carla from Club 1000 when planning my wedding reception. They were incredibly responsive, flexible, and were both honest and up front about guidelines, rules, especially the damage deposit. The planning of my event was flawless, and the evening of my reception was incredible. I can't name one thing that I wish had been done differently or one criticism of John or Carla. They were both easy to find and willing to help with anything during the reception. I attribute the success of my reception at Club 1000 to the experience and professionalism of both John & Carla. My night couldn't have been any more perfect. Thank you Club 1000!

We rented the penthouse at Club 1000 for our wedding reception. The owner is very unprofessional and charges you for every little thing he can. He is horrible to talk to and work with. He wants to spend as little time with you as possible even when you have your planning meeting he will be doing 5 other things instead of paying attention to you.
The venue has an elevator for guests that was actually broken the evening of our reception so our guests had to be shuffled to the back and taken up the ugly freight elevator which took forever.
The owner also kept our deposit for "extra charges" for services he did without our permission. He let guests in the venue earlier than our contract stated, without our permission and then charged us for this extra rental plus extra time with the bartenders/alcohol service. When we told he was the one that shouldn't have let people up because that was not our agreed upton time in the contract that we were renting for he hung up the phone. We are still trying to get our money back.
Unless you want a lot of hassle and your money stolen, I do not reccomend this venue.

The space is a blank canvas and so fun to work with. The price is definitely reasonable for downtown KC. The venue allows for ceremony and reception in the same room and/or building. Walking distance from downtown hotels.
The sound/speakers can be a problem. Make sure you use the microphone for your ceremony b/c the sound does not carry, especially with the air conditioner on.
The speakers are circled above the dance for which make for loud dance music, but the tables farthest away cannot hear. Make sure your DJ projects well and gets everyones attention.
Their are specific guidelines and rules, but everyone is documented in your contract.
Overall, I would recommend the venue.

Club 1000 is a nice simple venue. However, I would NEVER recommend or choose this site again. The owner of the site was very rude and unprofessional. All it seemed he cared about was $$$. He charges anyone 5 years old and up a BAR FEE or an "event fee" that is between $14.50-17.50 per person. What 5 year old do you know that will drink $14.50 worth of alcohol, juice, and soda in a night? Also, he does not allow guests to take shots of alcohol - how convenient he left that part out in telling us about the bartending services. When we called him about that on the night of our wedding, he never returned a phone call. His assistant said she would check on it, and then never returned. Luckily, the bartender was nice enough and said that she would let guests take shots if the bride or groom was present. They will charge you for anything and everything. They charged us to hang paper lanterns saying that it was a liability and his assistant had to do it. But then we were to take them down - how ironic that that is not a liability. Also, the owner is a dirty snake. He was caught stealing favors for the guests. My husband addressed this with the owner and he stated he took them for his kids. Do not waste thousands and thousands of dollars here. You will be more satisfied at another venue in Kansas City. By the way, this review appears in its edited format to sound less harsh when the owner stated he was going to call his attorney regarding the issues that were presented here. The above statement are simply fact or my opinion. Case in point, beware if you are going to do business with this person.

The site is absolutely beautiful and affordable. The staff is extremely difficult to work with. They kicked us out early and threw away our extra boxed up food and our cake topper to eat on our one year anniversary.

We loved the space, and all of our guests were happy with it. A bit pricey for the amount of time the space was available, but overall I was very happy.
