I was extremely happy with both staff and selection at Altar Bridal. I had to dress 13 bridesmaids and I allowed them each to pick their own style dress...could have been a mess! Fortunately, with Sara and Dede's help, the process was incredibly smooth. Each of my bridesmaids made a point to tell me how much they enjoyed working with the girls at altar. I have found that staff responds quickly to email and phone calls, willing to help me find everything I need for the wedding...down to every last accessory. Can's say enough great things about this shop!

Dede and the girls over at Alter Bridal in Waldo were off the charts awesome to work with! They welcomed me into their store as if it were my best friend's closet and treated me as if I was like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she gets spoiled by all the clothes and dresses! I felt like I was in my own private boutique as I went through such a special time and I couldn't have asked for a better experience from the very first dress I tried on to all the way down the aisle!
Thanks so much Dede!

Altar Bridal is an amazing bridal shop. They have very unique dresses and the designers allow you to customize your dress. I was able to create a one-of-a-kind dress with Altar Bridal. Dede and Sarah were great. They both worked with me and made sure I got what I wanted. I would strongly recommend this bridal shop to anyone looking for their wedding gown. I had such an amazing experience finding my wedding gown that I also went with them for my matron of honor dress. I did not have any issues with alterations and the alterations person they work with was very nice and professional. You will not find a bridal shop like this in KC. The focus on customer service and customer satisfaction can't be beat.

Altar Bridal was the first salon I went to. I loved the store and the owner, who handled my appointment. Despite having a bounty of gorgeous dresses to choose from, the store didn't end up having "the" dress for me. However, even after I bought a dress from another bridal boutique, I brought it back to Altar Bridal to have them handle the alterations because they were so wonderful to work with. I wish I could have found 'the' dress at Altar because I would have loved to give even more business to the salon. I am so glad I brought my dress back there for the alterations because every appointment for the fittings was a joy to go to due to the wonderful people at Altar.

It does not get better than the Altar. After shopping at several places for wedding dresses in the KC area, Altar Bridal was the only boutique I would recommend! The service was impeccable throughout the entire appointment and I cannot say that about any other KC boutique. Steffane and Sara both assisted me and were very easy to talk to and work with. Steffane helped me find THE dress and I couldn't be happier. Their selection of dresses is not enormous but it didn't need to be. They have picked out the best of best and offer nothing less to KC brides. The Altar has varying styles in great price ranges that are all beautiful and very classy. The boutique itself is very clean, modern, open, and airy. Steffane picked out a couple of dresses that matched what I was looking for and then let me walk around and pull anything else that caught my eye.
Hands down, the Altar Bridal is the only boutique I would recommend.

I fell in love with the first dress I tried on at this location. I had tried on many dresses at other places and this one just wouldn't come off. The ladies were so professional and complimentary there. They provided champagne drinks and they really knew how to lift your spirits. They were flexible with fitting times and they were willing to work with my schedule. Give them a call and try on some of their amazing dresses!

Altar Bridal store is modern and fun. The natural sunlight pours in and provides an accurate image of your look in any dress or accessories. Dede was so friendly and accommodating. Love the styles!

Loved Altar! Great store, the ladies were so nice!!! I found a dress online, and they were so helpful by having the dress shipped to them from San Francisco. It was a great experience

They have a great variety of tea length dresses which is exactly what I was looking for. The experience was amazing and I'm so excited to return and purchase my dress soon!

The experience was great and the staff was friendly. However, if you are not a size 6, there is nothing that Altar Bridal could offer you. All of their dresses are in one sample size and it is a waste of time if you doesn't fit that size. Also the value of the dresses are way too expensive for the simple style that they have. I would recommend Bridal Solutions on State Line in Kansas City to anyone.

I've been looking for a wedding dress for a while and I've been to SEVERAL bridal salons in the area. I've been to bridal extraordinaire, gown gallery, david's bridal, group USA, bridal solutions (the BEST place so far in Lee's Summit) and audra's ltd (in Topeka). Out of all of those, altar had the fewest dresses too choose from and they had the most limited selection of silhouettes. You can tell that one person does the gown buying at this shop and that person has very limited tastes in bridal fashion. If you're not in the market for an empire shaped dress that's very plain - you should NOT visit this store. Also, they have a very limited offering of dress sizes. I understand that a small company can't compete with mass retailers, but altar had "sample sizes" only. So if you are not a size 6 or 8, you can't fit into any of the dresses. Finally, their price point was ridiculous. Out of all the shops I've visited in the last several weeks, these dresses were the most underwhelming and had the most overwhelming price tags. I brought a friend with me to the appointment and she agreed that the dresses were "cute" but in no way were they elegant or beautiful - and price tag just about made her faint. If you're looking for WOW factor - you can't find it here. If you're looking for cute bohemian and whimsical dress that happens to be white, then this place is perfect. I'm writing this review so other people don't waste there time here. If you're looking for a dress that's formal, stunning, shapely and want to see a variety of offerings, you should avoid this place. GO TO BRIDAL SOLUTIONS IN LEE SUMMIT~ that has been the smallest shop I've been to and the best for quality, beautiful and realistically priced gowns.

Before you buy at Altar, please read this!!! My initial shopping experience was positive, however, when it came to alterations and customer relations dealing with Altar Bridal, Kansas City, MO quickly became a disaster.
I selected a beautiful $3,200 dress and after the initial fitting only minor alterations were necessary: 1/8” taken in at the waist on each side seam and the hem shortened. At the time we noticed that they did not take notes and did not pin anything but the hem. After making that remark, Carmel, the seamstress, mentioned she didn’t need to since the alterations were minor. I am from out of town and the staff recommended that I didn't need to come back for a second fitting and they would ship the dress to Florida when finished.
When the dress arrived (six weeks after initially trying on the dress in Kansas City, no weight gain and six weeks till the wedding), I discovered too much had been taken in at the waist, the dress wouldn’t zip up and the tulle (lining) was longer than the hem. The alterations were botched.
I immediately called Altar Bridal that Saturday but the owner was not available over the weekend. Her staff only offered that we ship the dress back to Kansas City so they could “see what happened” and they “promised to fix it.” However, they could not describe why this happened, the exact steps needed to repair the dress or clarity on reimbursement for the mistake. It was clear staff have no decision making power - only the owner who as previously mentioned was not available. Without a clear plan of action, I had no confidence in their ability to fix what was originally minimal alterations... and now, thanks to their seamstress, a larger, more complex job.
Dissapointed, frustrated and knowing both the bride and wedding weren’t in Kansas City, I began looking for a plan B and considered working with a local Florida boutique, The Dressing Room. This shop came highly recommended and once they heard our situation were flexible in scheduling an appointment for that Monday.
Three days later and throughout those days keeping Altar staff in the loop with plans but receiving no decision change or clear plan of action, we finally spoke to Altar Bridal owner DeDe on Tuesday. After an initial pleasant call, a series of tense and contentious discussions ensued. It became clear that the owner was not interested in customer satisfaction but in limiting the monetary damage from Altar's incompetence. Rather than providing me with as their Website touts,"It is all about you. Just as it should be," service, they choose to fight me to a standstill.
Our requests were simple. Reimbursement for the original alterations, payment for those needed to fix the gown and the cost of the flight change fee - as I would need to fly to Kansas City too if we went Altar's route to send dress back. DeDe's response was rigid and suspicious. Her comments were: Not sure about the original alterations. Will need to see the dress personally or speak to the local tailor about their evaluation and see what went wrong. Unable to commit to reimbursement for additional alterations without clear understanding of what was done to gown and specific changes made. Refused to reimburse for flight change fee as she deemed it my decision to stay in town and was inflexible in the above. DeDe, ironically, expected the same specific explanation and customer care efforts from the bride that her store was ultimately, unwilling to offer me when I called three days prior with a dress that did not fit c/o Altar's work.
How unfortunate for DeDe's business that she is focused on the short term money loss rather than the long term benefits of a positive bride recommendation. For me, it was never about money but the treatment. DeDe never considered the hoops I would need to go through to get back to KC - work schedules, time to travel and other commitments six weeks before my wedding. But because money was Altar's primary concern, I want to be clear that the total reimbursement requests never exceeded $500.00 and the total spent at Altar, including alterations, veil and jewelry was closer to $3,800+. Not exactly a designer experience to go with my designer gown.
And the reason I feel most obligated to write this review is after many frustrating calls, DeDe finally agreed to reimburse me her shop's alterations - no more than $200.00. Yet when the letter arrived it included only the check. There was no note of apology for the hassle and stress I endured at the hand of her store or offer of change to procedure or policy in how out of town brides and alterations are managed - whether it be better records for alterations specifics or enhancing their quality control before a gown leaves the store.
After that we chose to disengage. The stress wasn't worth it. Future brides please beware of DeDe's inability to manage. Double to those out of towners...
I wouldn't wish the experience on the girl that stole my boyfriend in high school. It was that disappointing. When something goes wrong at Alter, you’re no longer a customer, you’re a cost.
Fortunately, The Dressing Room fixed my gown so it was wearable on the wedding day. HUGE thanks to Judy and Hugh for their help, support and time during this stressful experience.
