The mysteries of natureÂ’s designs have always intrigued me. The beauty of natural botanical lines lends themselves to contemporary form and functionality. As an artist I take liberties with the natural form while trying to maintain the purity of natureÂ’s art.
My art falls into two definite styles. While visually different, in concept they are very similar. My botanicals are derived from the simplicity of nature; my contemporary work is derived from the simplicity of form. My intentions are to bring inspiration to each piece, in hopes that every individual can appreciate the true love and compassion that I put into my work. My desire is that each piece will be used, viewed, and passed on through families, from one generation to the next, to be loved and cherished as they were when first created.
Genevieve Flynn maintains her studio in Kansas City, Missouri, the city in which she was born and raised. After earning degrees in Jewelry Design, Jewelry Repair, and Hand Engraving, she worked in the industry for 9 years before pursuing a business of her own.
Defining her creative direction, she chose to pursue the study of hollowware design by taking intensive courses through the University of Kansas. Genevieve gained further experience by studying twice under Heikki Seppa, Master Metalsmith, internationally recognized as the modern father of form emphasis, including anticlastic raising and synclastic sinking.
With 30 years working in precious metals, Genevieve designs elegant hollowware and jewelry. Her award winning work is found in many private collections and in the collections of many synagogues and churches.
Her commissions of note include a special commemorative pin presented to Ewing Kaufman, owner of the Kansas City, Royals and an intricately chased and engraved hand mirror presented to Paula Abdul, singer/entertainer.
